I believe humidity (excessive or lack thereof) may be a neck's worst enemy... Just let it sit in its new environment for a while before working with it. YMMV

If the materials are unfinished, then they will acclimatize quickly (~1 week). The neck will ship with minimal tension on the truss rod. It won't be rattling around. The truth is that wood will...

Yeah, about one week sounds right, and as suggested, give it more time before fretwork. The frets installation is well done so you should have minimal issues with playability out of the box.

thanks all, this neck will be finished in gloss with a tint. i will just put 9s on her for a year to keep the tension down
